I think I should say a few words on the fairness of Santander for its savings account customers.
Although I have only 4.94 Euro deposited, Santander continues to give interests (a good 0.05 Euro this quarter…). I think most “traditional banks” would phone me every next day to make me close the account (since it is a cost for the bank), or at least would have offer me a “special” 0% rate.
But it struck me that Santander seem to round off in client’s favour. In fact, they applied a witholding tax of 0.01 Euro, less than the 0.0135 that would be mathematecally correct. Surely you don’t become rich whit a 0.0035 euro gift, but it looks to me a really fair attitude, to which maybe we aren’t used when dealing with banks.
